Patient resourcesWhere do I start?
You don't have to figure this out alone. Start with a simple path.
Name what feels hardest right now
Is it physical tasks, getting to appointments, companionship, or something medical? Naming it helps narrow the search.
Pick the path that fits
Are you the caregiver or the person facing a diagnosis? Most of our guides are tuned to one or the other.
Check what's actually local
Grand County has extremely limited senior care infrastructure โ Canyonlands Care Center is an extremely limited, 36 bed long-term nursing home with a current wait-list that is more than double the bed capacity. There are no assisted-living options and little aging-in-place assistance. We list what genuinely exists, including in neighboring San Juan County.
Ask for financial help earlier than you think
Medicaid waivers, SHIP, and local assistance programs have wait times. Starting early is almost always better.
Both are useful โ many people use both
If you are caring for someone who is also navigating their own diagnosis, both sides of this site are written for you. Caregivers often read the patient pages to better understand what their loved one is going through; patients often read the caregiver pages to understand what the people around them are carrying.
I'm caring for someone
You may be a spouse, an adult child, a parent, a friend, or a neighbor. You may have just started, or you may have been doing this quietly for years. This path helps you care well โ and keep yourself intact.
